Andrea Werder completed her legal studies and law degree at the University of Zurich. After earning her LL.M at New York University, she worked at law firms in New York, Buenos Aires, Zug and Zurich. In 2003 she was admitted to the New York Bar, and in 2005 she became a licensed Notary Public and Attorney at Law of the Canton of Zug.
Ms Werder primarily advises on matters pertaining to intellectual property rights. She has been working for IRF Interessengemeinschaft Radio und Fernsehen (“IRF”) since 1999. From 2013 to 2016, she was the Deputy CEO and has been acting as the CEO since 1 January 2017. IRF is an association of national and international radio and TV broadcasters, whose programmes are redistributed in Switzerland. IRF manages the licence fees of the association's members, currently around CHF 40 million p.a. In her capacity as CEO, Ms Werder leads the meetings of the IRF Distribution Committees. She also represents the interests of the broadcasters in the Expert Committee of the Swiss collecting society SWISSPERFORM.
From 2005 to 2014, she primarily advised small and medium-sized Swiss companies and multinational, publicly-traded companies headquartered in Switzerland, mainly in corporate law matters and restructurings. As a licensed Notary Public in Zug, she carried out numerous notarisations, particularly within the fields of corporate and matrimonial property and inheritance law.
